Animal Planet / Joe Perry's Horse Farm
The Animal Planet produced a series about celebrities who owned farms with horses. This was one story of about fifteen, this one being about the guitarest Joe Perry who plays for the rock band Aerosmith. He along with his wife own a farm outside of Woodstock, VT where they raise the breed of horse called Frisians.
For this program I set up a work space close to the HD monitors for my mixers and transmitted by wireless feed to the cameras. The cameramen monitored the audio with Sony headsets. I placed a Fostex monitor for playback in the area for the producers and director to listen to when playing tape back.
The equipment used for this shoot was a Sound Devices 442 four channel mixer with a Sound Devices 302 three channel mixer linked together. This gave me five channels of audio, all of which I used. Five Lectrosonics wireless transmitters and receivers were used. Tram microphones were also used with their windscreens. I used two boom mics. for the different conditions presented. For the outside shooting I used a Sennheiser MKH60 with Rycote wind cover. For the inside shooting (barn) I used a Neauman KMR81i also with a Rycote cover. I also provided IFB's for the producers and directors so they could hear what was going on in the barn without having to be right there. I also provided a Dat Tape backup just in case.
I hope this gives you an idea of the type of work I do along with the equipment that I use. I offer two basic packages then if you need more equipment I offer day and week rates according to what is needed.
