When: Thursday May 10, 7P.M.
Where: The VCAM Studio
208 Flynn Avenue 2-G
Burlington, VT 05401
As more and more artists use Kickstarter to raise funds for their projects, we at VCAM have been getting a lot of questions about using Kickstarter to fund film and video projects and about using video to help improve other, non-video-related Kickstarter projects.
So we have assembled a panel of experts to talk about the panelists' successful Kickstarter campaigns, discuss some dos and don'ts, and take questions from people interested in using Kickstarter to fund their projects.
What sorts of projects are suitable for Kickstarter?
What makes a successful Kickstarter campaign?
Do I need to make a video for my campaign?
How does it all work?
What sorts of Kickstarter projects should I contribute to?
What are the drawbacks to using Kickstarter?
Sam Mayfield, filmmaker & video journalist
Sam's documentary, Wisconsin Rising, raised $41,850 in completion funds on Kickstarter
James Lantz, filmmaker
James used Kickstarter to raise almost $90,000 for his film about the Eat More Kale vs. Chik-fil-A controversy.
Jon Stout, Free Speech TV
Free Speech TV needed help meeting the start-up costs associated with starting a full-time cable channel in Burlington. They raised over $5,000 on Kickstarter.
The panel will be moderated by VCAM Director of Media Services, Bill Simmon.
