The 6th Annual White River Indie Film Festival

Friday, June 4 - Sunday, June 6. Northern Stage, Main St., WRJ, Vt.

This year’s wonderfully ambitious White River Indie Film Festival offers a wide range of special events, parties, programs, films and workshops.

The festival kicks off on June 4th with George Kachadorian’s documentary “Shooting Beauty” about an aspiring fashion photographer whose career takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a hidden world of beauty at a center for people living with disabilities.  Also screening is the “Summer of Walter Hacks” by Vermont filmmaker George Woodard and producer Gerianne Smart, a rollicking coming-of-age story, done up as a loving tribute to Hollywood westerns. Norwich-based filmmaker Liz Canner will screen her festival-favorite--Orgasm Inc. as part of the Opening Night Gala. Her witty documentary examines how pharmaceutical companies tried to create new medical problems to cash in on the so-called 'cure.'

This year’s festival presents an array of workshops, including Acting for Film, How to Use the Flip Camera and  Activist Filmmaking: How to Change the World with Media.  Join filmmakers Jane Applegate, Anne Macksoud, Holly Stadtler, Robin Lloyd and Bill Stetson on Sunday, June 6th at 4 p.m. for a discussion on how films can inspire people to take action, support worthy causes and make a difference.  For more information about these events, the full schedule and ticket information, visit: http://www.wrif.org/index.php
