“Freedom & Unity: The Vermont Movie”
If you haven’t heard already, there is a new film project underway titled “Freedom & Unity: The Vermont Movie,” it’s the brainchild of award-winning filmmaker and Norwich resident Nora Jacobson. It’s a documentary about Vermont, its people, its history and its independent spirit. This film will cover a wide range of historical and contemporary ideas. Nora began the project two years ago by recruiting over twenty of Vermont’s independent filmmakers to produce a series of diverse and compelling segments about Vermont’s history and its future. Nora is now weaving these segments together to form a unique tapestry of ideas and historical perspectives about our state. “Freedom and Unity’s” producers have raised roughly two-thirds of the required funds to complete the project. They continue to seek individual donations, loans, and foundation grants to help fund the post-production. There is a “Fun-Raiser” planned for September 25th in Stowe with author and historian Howard Coffin and filmmaker Nora Jacobson. The Film Commission is co-hosting this event.
