I have 20 years’ experience transcribing audio into Word documents. Past clients have included journalists for Time and Fortune magazines, writer Sebastian Junger ("The Perfect Storm," "War"), and photojournalist/filmmaker Tim Hetherington ("Restrepo") The Wall Street Transcript, documentary filmmakers, lawyers, and graduate students working on doctoral dissertations. I use ExpressScribe, Start.Stop Power Play or InqScribe softwares with foot pedal for transcription and can work from e-files, disks, flash drives -- pretty much anything you send my way. I charge $25 per typing hour, with the rule of thumb being that one hour of audio equals four hours of typing. This would only take longer in cases of poor audio quality or a speaker who is difficult to understand.
